Introduction
This year I have read «Creative Education, Teaching and Learning » by Gayle Brewer and Russell Hogarth, was published Palgrave Macmillan, 2015.
Educators, as well as educational policy, are increasingly realizing the value of creativity and creative approaches to education. However, while teachers are encouraged to use creative teaching methods, there is little guidance on creative teaching methods [Windschitl, 2002].
Creative Education, Teaching and Learning is written to illustrate a number of innovative teaching methods that teachers have successfully used.
The book consists of three parts: Part I Digital Technology, Part II Narrative, Part III Art, Games and Student Partners. Each part contains articles by different authors on this topic, based on personal experience, and provides an example of a description of developments that have been successfully applied in practice. For example, such as Developing a Teddy Bear Clinic: A Framework for Involving Child Service Users in a Nursing Curriculum.
The chapters authors (Gayle Brewer, Rory McDonald and Nicky Danino, Lynn Shorter, Dawne Gurbutt and Russell Gurbutt and many others ) indicate the use of social networking sites, virtual games, films, board games, storytelling, archival use, comedy and art in education. They also consider the extent to which students can expand their role through peer support or employment as research interns or teaching assistants.
The book is designed to support teachers of all disciplines, teaching at all levels.
